Honestly, I do not understand people's opposition to this holiday. It was a very clear (if little-noticed) election commitment that the ALP took to the last election. If they'd broken it, people would be be screaming blue murder about broken promises. In any case, all it does it replace the Show Day public holiday that Kennett abolished. I totally agree with you about AFL, though.
