A beard stroker is a climbing stereotype with the following characteristics: - a beard - a tendency to stroke their beard - they are so old they probably forgot their own birth date - a tendency to talk about the old days as if they were the good old days - will chop any bolts that weren't there in the old days - will sandbag anyone silly enough to ask questions - a love of hexes and a corrasponding hate of cams (even though they own three sets) - will complain about the modernisation of the sport - will probably have some excellent stories perfected after years of cumulative embellishment which will be told if you happen to be caught round a fire with one
