Hiking In Tasmania, April 2002.
I had the pleasure of trekking through a few parks in Tasmania recently. (Click images to download the full size
version). First up was an overnight
jaunt into the "Walls Of Jerusalem". My father, who walked with
me, had been planning a return trip for 40 years or so, ever since he was
my age. The
walking takes you past some remarkably picturesque pools and dominant
bluffs. The experience proved rewarding for us both. As expected, the tracks
have been improved greatly over the years.
We also did a short meander through the beginning of
Cradle Mountain National Park, where I grabbed these shots. Both of us had
hiked the overland trail a few times before, but the scenery never fails
to take ones breath away.
We rounded our trip off with a brief exploration of
Ben Lomond in the North East, Tassie's skiing destination during winter.
And, of course, no trip to Tassie would be complete
without the customary trek up Mt Wellington, overlooking Hobart.
