Skating
Away (2.5
Meg, 41 seconds)
Owen leading Skating Away, 22m grade 19 at Ben Cairn.
The crux is pulling out of the crack onto the run out slab above. It's a
long way to that oversized bolt, then zero further protection until
the top out. Footage shot on rappel gives a close up feel of the
route.

Pancake Flake (2
Meg, 32 seconds)
Owen leading Pancake Flake, 30m grade 18 at Ben Cairn.
Small gear protects the traverse under the flake, then easier terrain
heads to the summit. Note: Climbing with the rope between your legs
while left or right of your last gear placement, can invite a
potential upside down fall. Video by Michael Boniwell. |
