Since the weekend is not in prime campsite usage time, I figured on just turning up and taking our chances.
Will probably aim for identical sites to what we had last time, ie the VCC preferred ones that are on the RHS just past the ablution block while travelling the circuit anticlockwise, as they are closest to the communal table and fireplace as well as a tap (all on LHS), and the ablution block.
I will be going up on Friday afternoon to stake our claim.

When I get time I will sort the numbers re attendees, as I have had a number of expressions of interest that I have not followed up to confirm with.

If you can bring your own aid kit, improvised or otherwise, it will help my gear go further amongst those that don't have any.

For those attending who need aid items please post to this thread, ... to give me time to get it together; ... although I have had some gear kindly offered by non attending peoples, as well as some on loan to me already...

If I don't go with anyone I'll have a full kit of ascenders, 4 spare etts, daisys (adjustable and pocket) and gear rack if anyone needs it. Otherwise just etts, daisys, gear rack....

If you and Brendan are considering Ozy, I have it on good authority that a pair from Sydney are doing Ozy that weekend.

Apparently they have a magazine writer/photographer in tow...

~> The word I heard, is that same wants to interview any other aid wannabes (same is aware of our weekend plans), to help flesh out the intended article...

Whatever. I can live without it...
Heh, heh, heh.

I believe that it's actually a trio from Sydney with the photographer (unless there are two photogs doing a story about aid at Buffalo that weekend).

We are leaving Sydney Saturday night. We hope to start Ozy on Sunday. Plan is to spend Sunday night at the bottom, Monday night on Big Grassy, get to the top on Tuesday... I should add that we're not the fastest aid climbers (no doubt this will help our photographer friend!), so if you're looking to do Ozy in a day you'll probably be able outrun us easily enough ;)

thanks dave for the info dave,
We are driving down after work friday night and aim to start early Saturday morning (hoping to finish in a reasonable time after that, my mate hasnt aided before so he'll be jugging and freeing pitches and i have aided abit but am recovering from a knee injury so should be intresting : ) do you guys have a ledge for Big Grassy? with 3 people it would be a super tight fit if you dont have one,

the sloping dirt patch on is the most level part of the ledge, the rocks are too steep to sleep on top of

We wish we had a ledge... Plan is to string a hammock between the walls. One person in there (uncomfy....). The other two on the ledge. Sure to be interesting/cozy.

If anyone has a ledge they'd care to loan us I'm sure we'd be eternally grateful. Gratitude would of course be expressed in the form of alcohol (+ a replacement ledge if we broke it).

Btw M9 have you been able to see Russian aiders in the flesh yet? If not perhaps you'd like to check out my (passable) home made set on the 21st :)

If you can borrow these items so much the better, however they can also be improvised from prusik cord.
I will be taking extra gear to cover this kind of shortfall, but at this stage do not know how many people it will need to be spread between.

OK. ... Monday arvo and I have three days left to finalise what I take with me.

I have just done the number crunch and behind the scenes some people have had other priorities overtake their original agenda, so here is the latest attendee list...

I have gear for about six others plus myself, and best I can figure from the above list I need basic gear for 7 maybe 9 others...

Hmm.
If anyone Melbourne based requires the loan of etts/daisies/hooks then I have had a kind offer of loan of same from User-ID stuart h
~> Perhaps you can contact him by PM for the loan of same for this weekend.
I believe he can deliver same items if in the Brunswick or Melb CBD area...

I think Julie and I should be pretty much sorted for gear - have a big trad track, 4 etts, 2 daisy's, 2 ascenders.. maybe a few other bits and pieces. Don't have any hooks or that type of thing though

Thanks for the feedback.
That makes it more manageable, as it drops the number requiring gear back to maybe 6.

I expect that it will be possible to share on the day/s a bit, so it may not all be in use all of the time.
There are still a couple of unknown elements as I don't know what gear a couple of attendees are bringing but gather they have more than the basics, so if this list proves to be reasonably final, then we are covered.

Regarding hooks, there should be enough of them available, as it seems to me that there are sufficient new starters to the game attending that we will have enough available to cover the need; ie I don't expect that many (if any), will want (or need), to make consecutive hook moves!!

Post edit:
I just received a phone call from one of the attendees who can bring several sets of etts, so we are now well catered for in that area.

I've got ascenders and etriers (1 pair each), haul bag and pulley if anyone is feeling masochistic enough to want to practice hauling, rack and hooks, will be bringing all of them.

I'll be coming up Fri night from the Northern 'burbs of Melbourne, if anyone wants a lift.

Just remind me, where are we meeting/camping?

A good opportunity for those in that area.

Lake Catani campsite Friday & Saturday evenings.
Once you arrive at the loop road within the camp area turn right (one way traffic), and proceed about 100 metres. By then you will have passed the ablution block on the left and there will be campsites on the right hand side of that track, with a communal-use table on the left hand side.
We will be in that general vicinity, in order to be able to use the table.
If you start going downhill on that loop road, then you are leaving the area I am suggesting...

Good-o, see you then.

If you see someone driving round the campsite in a silver subaru looking lost, throw something at it, it'll be me.
