A top TR accompanied by great photos, of which I particularly enjoyed the sea level traverse* ones. Thanks for providing another enjoyable read gfdonc.

*Having never done that route (Sea-level Traverse says “8hrs, grade 16”), but it being on my 'one day - wish list', it appears that one can traverse at varying heights, and in fact this is necessary on occasion anyway.
From those experienced with the route, is it possible to do it if the sea conditions are not benign, as nmonteith's recent ones and gfdonc's pics show?, or would this involve roped climbing pretty much like a girdle traverse thus slowing progress to normal pitch times?
It also looks like a scrub gully or two would still have to be crossed?

You could probably aid it in two or three days, M9.

I reckon the crux would be finding something steep enough to hand your portaledge off.

In response to the question, you'd need a reasonably calm day (or perhaps low tide).

The section near the Gonk for example (in later photos) is fairly close to the water and would be hard to climb higher around. There would be other options, of course, but it might make life more interesting.
