It occurs to me that the only person from the Carrigan years who would want a book published about him, is Kim himself?

FATBOY 2003

'...Simon Parsons in his interview said ...

"Climbing at Araps back then was an odd scene. Most climbers were on the dole, dirty and smoked pot. I was a University student who dropped in from Tasmania. I always felt out of place, but did a few first ascents with Kim. Kim was the consummate professional and always a notch above most of us. The scene was full of fascinating individuals. I am sure someone will one day write a book about the people and what happened to them."

Surely Mike Law is the man for the job. I love his turn of phrase and was right there to boot !! Maybe if we all lobby him he'll give in. It would be a shame if this rich part of Australian climbing history were lost. So many interesting characters to write about, some tragic, some not. It would make fascinating reading and I'm sure would be a funny read. Or maybe he already has something alog these lines in the pipeworks ??? ...'

...you people just dont get it ...the Carrigan Years isnt about Kim Carrigan per-se...its just that Kim Carrigan was the main man thru those years ...and can provide a fantastic insight into the years leading up to 1975 ...during 1975 to 1985 ... and the years after ...all the way to grade 38 ...

Kim was the energy and vision and director of the CARRIGAN FRIEGHT TRAIN that pushed the grades in Australia ... while Claw was the graffiti artist desperately clinging to the side .....

Kim emerged from the iron mongery age...then .' invented the modern Arapiles ' ( Claw ).....during this period Kim climbed the hardest routes in England and America .......and then was one of the crew who kick started the age of sport climbing in France

Kim can bring an INTERNATIONAL perspective to the Carrigan Years that no one else can ...

...well ...they can try ...

Now where did ima.seriousyoungliza get that photo from? I think it's taken by BA at Summer Day in Easter 1985 but can't recall it being published anywhere.

post-edit : there's a gap in transmission between 6/3 and 10/4 - and I think BA was in china with poor internet access for 2 weeks from labour day.

...you (assuming us)... people just don't get it ... WTF?
Is that right lizardman?
Are there any head doctors on this site who can kindly PM ima. with advice about this obsessive, constant and compulsive posting about Kim Carrigan?
I for one retract my offer to purchase the (hypothetical) book as you've spoilt the whole thing now with this constant stream of ,,, of (calm now AP) hero worshipping ********.
As for your last statement that KC can bring an international (not shouting) perspective to 'his' years? Well, there were other climbers on the planet too - who've written about those years. Did they bow, scrape and fawn, say it was all about Kim? Err ...
Maybe you're right ... 'We' just don't get it...
Cheers,
AP.

Happy (not) to oblige ima.
For what it's worth ... KC's 'myths' are all busted now .. there goes any chance of people handing over their hard-earned for the autobiog.
Just saying it as I see it, no offense (underlined).
Mystified at your obsession that's all ...
Cheers, Keep plugging away, at least it's entertaining. Sort of.

What i think is sad is through all the bull spouted is Kim did some good things.

Most is heresay but he was overly motivated, great at looking at lines. Kept the good guys training. Found great fame in the USA due to being a foreigner who was to par with there best and being americans that meant the best in the worlld.

he climbed good shit. Did very well.

he was my employer and i wont say what i think on that level.

serious diminishes what kim did.

I've had a look at my scanned slides collection (as incomplete as it is) and I don't have a copy of that picture, 'though I do have one of you wearing that top taken about Easter time in SDV.

China is a Google free zone, anything associated with Google, such as Gmail or worst of all Google Translate, is simply not available.

There's several ways around the Great Firewall of China. Amusingly, one was recently demonstrated by an architect of the GFoC during a lecture: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/04/07/great_firewall_architect_forced_to_use_vpn/
