Is that only for top roping ES? Or can you lead with it?

Just top rope. You fix the rope, feed it into the shunt, weight the bottom of the rope, and off you go. It is
just like a mechanical prussic, just smoother and easier to pull up after you than a prussic. You just have
to remember not to grap the shunt with your hand before you load it. If you do you'll plumet.
