By his own admission his TT wasn't bad at all. It just came together better for Sastre on the day.

Seeing Cadel get worked on the Alpe d'Huez is the prime example of how the TDF is a team race. We can if but and maybe all we want about the race but I can't see Cadel winning the TDF without somebody/bodies up the front with him when it counts. I hope I can be proved wrong, or Silence Lotto gets a massive cash injection!

CSC Saxo Bank had a plan and timed their run into the yellow jersey to perfection. Watching Cancellara flog the peloton along the flats was gold.

It was a little bit like seeing Ulrich vs US Postal all over again. It would have been good to see CSC go head to head with Astana

Rod:

One of the reasons a lot of the top cyclists still keep looking fresh is doping. In the Giro there were a lot of positives for EPO but because of WADA's strict guidelines none of them could be 'officially positive'. The fact that Cadel looks trashed would indicate that he isn't doping.

Hmmm! There are a couple for aussies that I suspect of doping but with absolutely no proof and just a hunch it would be remiss of me to say who. I will love the day when a few of the swim team get busted and all there precious little worlds will come tumbling down.

Why do we have to think the worst of our best performers?
I'd like to think our elite athletes are 'clean' ...
Should I find out otherwise I will be disappointed, but until then am prepared to give the benefit of the doubt.

Did he? If I went down to the pub tonight and beat up an ex-office worker would I necessarily get sacked from my current job? Chances are they wouldn't even know about it.

With the amount of force/ damage he did, he could've easily killed the guy or caused perminant brain damage. In my mind that deserves serious assult charges. If you got arrested and charged, im sure your boss wouldn't be impressed, especially if you work for a high profile national swim team!

Yeah I reckon it was a knob act, but I was trying to make the point that for most people what happens in their personal life doesn't impact on their professional life.

i dont know what really happened but i know just as much as you all do... and it seemed to me like the guy was out having drinks and got hassled. he's a f---ing olympic level swimmer, he uses his arms to pull himself up & down a pool all day, if he hits someone theyre gonna know about it... my feeling is that he got hassled by some douche bags and finished their sentences for them, they were surprised when a professional athlete put them on their asses so they went crying to mommy. call me an asshole but i got no problem with that... good on him! i dont go looking for fights but if someone hits me without a damn good reason i'd do the same

if in fact he DID instigate it then get got what he deserved, but thats not the vibe i get

i don't know what the circumstances were exactly but he didn't just hit him, he put the guy in hospital with several metal plates to hold his face together not only that but it wasn't your average bar thug either, it was an ex team mate from a high profile swimming team!

None of us know if he is guilty. The fact is he hasnt had his day in court yet.

In a month or two he will be tried. And found guilty, or innocent.

If he is found innocent, the poor bastard would have been training daily since he was 10 years old, probably looking to these Olympics, all for nothing.

So much for innocent until proven guilty.

I don't think the worst in general and like to believe that these days they are trying to do the right thing. I just get a little annoyed at the finger pointing at cycling by the other sports where it is obvious that doping exists. Cycling does more in fighting doping than a lot of the other sports put together. They are not afraid to bust their champions and make them examples.

Heard on the news tonight that Cadel has been riding with i'm pretty sure i heard correctly a ''snapped rear anteriar cruciate ligament" since his crash in the tour, makes his achievements all the more remarkable! really shows the aussie fighting spirit

roger! but as he pointed out the anterior isn't used a huge amount in the pedalling motion. The fact that he only had one good leg after the crash in the tour and still did as well as he did is awesome. A true Aussie battler/hero. Deserves more respect than he gets.

No, he knackered his knee while partying after the tour finished. Fell over in a nightclub, or the like.

There was an amazing amount of fighting spirit shown by all nationalities on the tour, I thought ...
