the same place as all hex's 'climbs' come from.... out-dated rock mags. Although if my memory serves me correctly, this one is somewhere between Armidale & the coast (or maybe Hunter Valley)... 2000-ish vintage? Nofuturehexie.

“It sounded realistic to us ... I mean, even Molly himself was saying it. It’s just not like Molly to get these things wrong ! After all, he was so on the money about Kids in the Kitchen ! ”

Ashes to ashes , funk to funky... Thursday, 8 July 2004,HEX :
... we know y'all just '... web-site junkies , scawling on cyber-space...', etc,etc,etc
Well, b***** me !!! --- how things are evolving ! ; from camp-fire to computer , Baxter makes it all ,oh-so-clear !
So '... pull the curtains, dim the lights, take hold of your mouse , and step into the shady world of cyber-rock...' (Tempest 1998 )
So where to from here ? ...
1) Camp-fire convos are still as fun and existentially stimulating , as they ever were , no doubt ,even in the cave-(wo)man days...
2) Baxter's ' yeah-what-ever-we-can-handle-it-all ' refreshing editorial, suggests that the book technology is still one of the most enduring we have , now and into the future---support Rock everyone : it DOES ,generally, improve with each issue.
3) Cyber-rock ? --- ' The Hex ' can envisage ,a not too far off time , when there will be an inter-active climbing function on Chockstone , allowing for people to meet, climb/belay with each other, with-out actually etc, etc, etc
Obviously, cyber-climbing / chatting is here to stay---is that a good thing ?
If the likes of Chockstone , Qurank , RC , etc, etc, etc can provide reflections of / alternatives to / competition with / even inspiration for , the general climbing-culture , then that has to , surely , be a good thing...
Chockstone, Rock mag , Arapiles camp-fires--- defiantly room for them all ! ( to blend )...

As Kent's aneurism the other day shows, the cyber-medium is a very fragile one - the 'archives' can be wiped at any time - a user can delete all their posts if they get skittish.
The printed medium therefore still retains it's attraction, as the pile of climbing mags in the dunny will attest to, but the cyber-climbing-feeding-frenzy provides us with the 'quick fix' that gets us through the Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec. The Rock provides us with delayed gratification.
But the two media really are different. One facilitates interaction and is a medium for conversation, an easier form of email. In the other, we take what we are given, what Baxter feeds at the quarterly feeding time and our responses are selected and vetted.

Baxter won't give a rat's arse at the moment. Given he is suffering from cancer and a few other ailments, he is struggling just to stay alive. I don't think he has ventured into the Wild/Rock emporium for quite a while.

Yeah --- don't anyone dare mention anything about Rick White ...
I must say that Baxta gave quite a public indication to said conditions, in a recent Wild-mag editorial-portrait-photo...
Anyone know the latest on Bryden Allen ?, Wombatz ?, The Pope ??

I am sure if you search enough of other peoples contributions where they have quoted him, you could resurrect some gems...
