Does anyone have any idea why that crap about Tshirts in gyms has developed into a thread? I couldn't add to the rubbish there but I don't want to see anyone's nipple rings unless I know them really well.

It was the work of trolls Kieran. Nasty trolls. The kind of trolls who give trolls a bad name.
Unlike Hexy here. Who's really a nice troll. Though often misunderstood and underappreciated. A smart troll - who try gets to get folk to think a bit deeper than normal.
Sleep well Hexy...

Maybe.
Maybe not.
Kim Carrigan obviously thought he had a realistic chance of getting up it. The fact that it was 6 grades ahead of its time is incidental (albeit mind-blowing in concept).

Kim certainly thought he could do the route, I actually saw him fall from the finishing holds (oh the language!!) I think he got to that point twice in early 1985 (while Gullich was there) but by early 86 he didn't have the same motivation.

Punks '...over-ambitious...' ?? --- I think not ... --- This route was first bolted & attempted by the mysterious Martin Scheel, yeah ? , who around the same time made the FA of Milupa (30) , in the Gramps, yeah ? ; a premature return to Europe was the only thing stopping his rapid progress on Punks .................yeah?...

You are kidding aren't you? MS never got close as far as I know. Also, it was at least 2 years before he did Milupa (that was 87/88 wasn't it?)

Hey, just tuned back in to this thread .. to find I'm being quoted from afar ..

Never, ever occurred to me back in those days .. epitomised by my abandoning wire-brushing of what became Fiction (26) on finding a 6' blank section in the middle .. which apparently now has a hold somewhere ..
NF has holds, they just face 90 degrees from the optimal angle until after the crux. DOL unfortunately runs out of holds at the top of the flake, but since the wall leans outwards a small chip wasn't going to help.

Single-malt whisky thanks!
I think it's more about having a perspective .. we are talking about 20 years ago. At that stage having a route left alone for 3 months was considered polite enough. I was mainly interested to challenge Mikl about his change of perspective. "Are you tryin' to get a rise out of me, Agent Kujan?"
Still, if Mr Law finds a nice face route about 20ish anywhere in Vic .. 2 or 3 stars will do .. and preps it for me .. he should give me a call.

Awesome photos Simon.
Looks like a very fun way to spend a few weeks, even with an enima :P
