Necrotising arachnidism should be a diagnosis of last resort - debunking the common myth that the white-tail spider (Lampona lindrata) bite is the primary cause of skin necrosis

Though the Lampona lindrata bite still should be avoided as they are meant to be quite painful.

Hey Hexy,
Here's a name from the past to test you. Do you remember a fella called Adrian (or maybe alan) Barich? I was reading some of his writings the other day....Gold. He's either a troll of considerable abilities (who pre-dates the internet forum age), or a genuine worry.
Ring any bells?

Dont suppose you know who it was Hex? I read through the storm of letters last night. Gold I tells ya.
For those not familiar, in about 94/95 Alan Barich from 'Team Rocko' wrote a letter to Rock Magazine suggesting that routes should be chipped so that you get climbs with jugs right where you want them, and that routes should be retro-bolted so there were no run-outs greater than 2 metres. Apparently this was common practice in Europe, and we should be doing it here in Australia. 'Team Rocko's' PE teacher at school thought this was a good idea. Alan was going to borrow dads drill and get to it.
This started a very entertaining letter slanging match that lasted over a year and got quite personal!
After reading enough trolling posts on Internet sites, its pretty obvious with hindsight that the letters were a (very succesful) satirical troll.

Unfortunatly yes... Issue 23, which was July 1995 (according to Rocks History on http://www.wild.com.au/rock/core.htm , Issue 22 was published in April 1995).
