Cyber bullying leaves its scars
By Natasha Robinson
October 19, 2004

' THE psychological effects of cyber and mobile-phone bullying on school children may be even more severe than face-to-face abuse.

A quarter of Year 8 students know somebody who has been cyber-bullied. Thirteen per cent had experience it themselves and more than half thought the phenomenon was on the rise.

Cyber bullies send abusive or threatening text messages and emails and in some cases even set up websites to terrorise victims.

Verbal and psychological bullying have long-lasting, detrimental effects on children, including anxiety, depression and poor academic performance...'

GOLD !!! --- Kim (1997), elaborates :

' ...I actually bolted the Ring Route in 1981. There wouldn't have been anything in the world that hard at the time that was considered possible. It was possibly three or four years ahead of it's time. *I* couldn't climb it, (although I got bloody close on many occasions !! ),but to see it as a possibility in ' 81 allowed a lot of other routes to be done that were a bit easier...DID YOU FIND THE UNDEVELOPED NATURE OF CLIMBING FASCINATING OR FRUSTRATING ?... I think you will find that both will be increasingly getting together to provide mutual content. Both will then prosper beyond their wildest dreams. It is coming, I know this for fact. I`m speaking generally here not aimed at any one particular climbing mag.

The Vic Range is overrun with with goats. Magic Mountain has a feature that I called "The Stinking Cave". It was full of droppings plus a dead baby goat. It's the same aspect as Crystal Palace (eat-facing, sheltered from prevailing weather) so not really surprising.

This has gone on too long. Private jokes about goats and gloves shouldn't be allowed on Chockstone or anywhere else for that matter.
Kieran - as far as I can tell, it boils down to this.
Some people, either by preference or necessity, have sexual intercourse with animals. Mammals, with body temperatures similar to ours, and generally compatible sexual organs, are the animal of choice. Matching the size of the animal to the person is important, therefore animals in a certain size range tend to be preferred. Goats - and I might add, sheep - are within the acceptable size range.

Not all animals can be counted on to willingly and fully participate in the act of sexual love with a man, so some practitioners have taken to using novel means to ensure the animal does not slip their clutches. Gloves, faced with the 'hook' surface from velcro, allow a secure purchase on the flanks of the animal. This works particularly well with rough coated animals such as goats.

Gumboots are often necessary as such animals favour muddy and/or faeces rich environments. It's a matter of basic hygene really.

There. that should clear a few things up. In future, I would ask that all jokes or humerous references on chockstone be fully explained. It makes it much funnier and doesn't disadvantage anyone.
Cheers,
Tim
ps: everything I've said above should be read with a big 'or so I'm told'.

It seems that a lot of people didn't understand that feral goats are a problem in the Grampians. I took as a given that feral goats were a problem;they have been for many years. Thats why I took offense at some light-hearted, juvenile, jokes.
If I have embarassed myself over this, then I am happy that some people have been made aware of this problem.
The original post was from cliffcare. If you see any goats, deer, foxes or pumas please drop cliffcare a line.

What a total waste of space this thread has become. It wa started as a serious environmental thread and people have used it to exercise their pathetic humour.
Maybe I take things too seriously but this is a serious issue and the message I get is that most climbers don't give a shit. You'd rather indulge in a cheap joke than engage in a serious discussion.
If that's what you want then it's fine by me. I'll f--- off and not worry about climbing issues. It makes life a lot easier.
There's no point in responding to this because I will not answer. It's totally pathetic.

The goat joke became contentious because Keiran did just that - he responded with an attack - and in the process set himself up to become the fall guy for the whole topic - a position that, in the end, he was unable to extracate himself from.
I actually learnt a lot from that topic - not so much about sex and animals but on how forum participants self regulate topics. They create sometimes amusing, sometimes offensive banter but in the end it all evens itself out.
It's what makes Chockstome such a great web site.

Hear hear. I must confess I'm absolutely amazed at how fast this forum has grown from nothing to an incredible resource. Personally, I love the fact that I can come to the one place to get excellent information and advice (and occasionally give some), make myself heard, or simply to have a laugh. It's the diversity of responses, sensible or otherwise, that make this board so worthwhile, and has turned me into something of an addict.
