Come on guys, No OT talk of Le Tour!! Otherwise you won't shut me up!!

@BA Yes, there is a best climbers jersey. It's the Polkla dot jersey (White with large red dots)

3 weeks of sleepless nights watch the LIVE coverage every night!!

Can hardly wait for when the tour does get into the Alps and Pyrenees and the real racing begins!

In lycra presumably?
Do they retro award it, or rescind the offer if some-one determines the leg/pitch was too flat/chipped?
Let the sleepy/less-mod speak!

Yes, they randomly inspect the climbers for enhancing, and if it's a positive result the climber is disqualified and the next climber is awarded the jersey.

I.e in the speed climbing world championships 2 years ago. The speed climber Millar was subsequently found to have enhanced and the World Championship jersey was awarded to Australian Michael Rogers ;-)

So who do tip to win Le Tour de France, dalai? Will armstrong permanently weld his name into the history
books by taking a 7th Tour, or will some other rider like Ivan Basso be wearing yellow in Paris?

Given a super strong field, I would have doubted Lance could go seven straight. But after his convincing beating of the other GC contenders in the first stage TT I am now not so sure!

I have picked Basso as a dark horse to maybe make amends after his poor GC showing at the Giro (stomach bug) and may slip under the radar as everyone focusses on the Ullrich vs Armstrong battle. Though after being the one rider to match Lance in the mountains last Tour, I don't think Basso will be given this luxury.

Also I am concerned there are to many chiefs in T Mobile. They omitted their sprinter Zabel to focus on GC. But with Ullrich, Vinokourov and Klöden (2nd last year overall) it may backfire and result in a poor showing from the team.

Once the riders hit the mountains, then start to look for the action in the GC. Prior to then the main GC contenders will just try and stay out the way of the usual carnage in the sprints at the end of the flatter stages.

(I warned you!! I... must..resist...the...dark...side, no...tour...talk...)

I reckon that if Ulle is in shit form he'll go to work for Vinokourov - this may well be the case as he is normally damn strong on the TT. However he may still be suffering from the effects of his training tumble the other day - he can never be written off. If Lance Armstrong is not as strong in the mountains this year, he may try to do more damage in the early stages.

Vinokourov I see as being a supremely talented rider and is pick to give Armstrong the most harassment this year

I will be interested to see how McGee performs this year - he has declared himself as a GC rider and has been working on his climbing heaps

Resistance is futile!!

Once advantage to living over here is we don't have the sleepless night problem. In fact, at our office we'll have it live on the big plasma TV in our training centre.

I am going to joyfully seek revenge for every time you have pointed out how you have 24 hour cycling on TV over in England, by sandbagging you on everything when you move back to Victoria!!

That's OK, I'm used to that kind of treatment with my current regular bloddering companion. Oh yes, I'm just off to watch today's stage now.

slight shift of hijack:
spectator sport is all very well, i suppose, but, mountainbikers:
How's this concept?
Mt. Tarrengower challenge.
5 ascents up the bitumen
5 different descents on dirt (some fast, some hairy)
4 Maldon coffee shop/pub stops between each descent & next ascent. (checkpoints?)
something to do when it's too wet to climb.

It's mad over here. All mobile networks are closed to anything other than emergency calls andmost of the news websites are crashing.
A very near miss for a girl I know in London. She decided not to get on her regular bus as it was crowded with people evacuated from the nearby tube station. It exploded 200m down the road from her! Scary times indeed!

Looks like their were 7 explosions, six on the underground and one bus. Currently they are reporting 20+ people dead but this is certain to rise. Their are reports that an Italian based group linked to Al-Qaida are claiming responsibility.

Hope any other Chockstoners currently in London are OK.

I've just back to the office after driving through the aftermath. 4 bombs, 3 underground and 1 bus. At street level there is no real sign of what's happened though I'm told there were bodies on the street, and the bus was a suicide bomber so i hate to think what the scene there is like. All public transport is suspended. Our guys ( ropeworkers ) currently have no way to get home. The emergency folk are doing an amazing job, you can only admire them. It's all a bit too close for my comfort. Anyone out there feel like marrying an englishman that wants out of here? Jon ( Alert and alarmed )
