Sad news, Andy Pollitt passed away 12th November after suffering a brain aneurysm on Sunday evening
He was one of climbing's larger than life characters, a very high achiever in the sport and in his subsequent difficult access career and a very good mate to a large number of us who will miss him grievously.

There's a link to UK Climbing with more details https://www.ukclimbing.com/news/2019/11/andy_pollitt_dies_aged_56-72126

Out thoughts are with his family in Australia and in the UK at this difficult time

God Bless

That’s really sad...as a kid I had the photo of him on “the bells the bells” bluetacked to my bedroom wall and it diligently got restuck on the wall every time we moved home. It’s probably still on my bedroom wall (from the 90s) at my folks place.

A legend in all different and twisted interpretations of the the word. I had met him but I never knew him. Thoughts with family and friends xxx

Very sad news. Never met Andy but like Stugang grew up reading of his exploits, so am gutted by the news!

Sincerest condolences to friends and family.

Got to meet Andy a couple of years ago. Great guy, helped me heaps in a time of need. Thoughts with family and friends.

Am quite stunned to hear of Andy’s demise, and 56 is way too young...
Condolences to his family and friends.

Although I never met him, I feel as if I had after reading his (personally signed) book Punk in the Gym, a great read from a hard living, climbing poster-boy!

Well I remember his contributions to Chockstone that although not always on topic, enlivened this place considerably and can still hear his typed “Ha!” now...

I lament the loss of yet another larger than life achiever in both ’out there’ and also in understated ways, as well as being one of our ubiquitous climbing larrikins.
