Hi There,
My forum post "Buffalo camping, spare site or share?" was recently shifted to the Crag and Route Beta forum. I am less than impressed with this shift, given that my message to Chockstoners was not in relation to Crag or Route Beta at all, but rather, requesting to share a camping site.
If moderators didnt feel my topic fit in the General Discussion forum, then I would haev thought it could belong in the Find other climbers section.
As a result, I have had little in the way of response to my post, and now we are still site-less for this weekend.
Jackie.

I am sorry that this shift did not suit your expectations as I interpreted it as beta on present or upcoming camping at Mt Buffalo, and I am not sure the result would have been any different regardless, given the content of the replies on your thread.
I am happy to move it again to wherever you would like it, but given that this is the first time we have had negative feedback on our practise of trying to keep things on Chockstone in a reasonable semblance of order (over many years now), I guess it was bound to happen some day.
Front page of Chockstone displays all new post topics by date anyway for a period of time, regardless of the location. I also note that some posters bump their threads, to ensure they remain current.
The Crag and Route Beta Section of Chockstone, still currently displays your topic on the first page of that section, and I note it did receive replies regardless of it being there.

Sorry to hear that you haven't found a site Jackie. The thread probably should have gone in the 'find climbers' topic from the start, but moving the post probably made little difference as the mod suggested, so no point getting stroppy.
Most of the sites aren't that big and most people go camping to get away, not be crammed between strangers tents, despite how simply great fun they might be.
Good luck with your search. Maybe try sweetening the deal by offering to cook dinner or hand out free beer or something...

I intend attending over the long weekend, and expect Lake Catani campsites to be full.
As a result, I am debating whether to clandestine camp, or take a portaledge for a night (or two), on a wall.
I am still awaiting the outcome of the weather forecast!

Heh, heh, heh.

Thanks for the feedback moderator. Yes can you please shift that topic to the "Find climbers" section. In future, is it possble that moderators can PM the message owner to advise that the post has been shifted?
Climboholic: In response, my post was feedback and not a "stroppy" vent. Valid feedback, posted appropriately in the "Chockstone feedback" section.

Done.

I used to do this routinely, but when I noted most of my PM's to posters regarding such events went unread, and my PM box became full of possible replies pending, then I abandoned that practise, and have deleted unread PMs to make more space.

I reckon it was amusingly passive-aggressive. Hope you find a site jackie.......surely you can just roll up and charm some people into letting you share? b.t.w. I haven't forgotten that you have my gramps guide and am still vaguely hoping to get it back eventually ;P

D-man, i sold your Gramps guide on eBay and am flying to the states next month on the proceeds ;) (Actually, do I still have it? Damn i'll have to have a scout around).
Re my passive agressive "Stroppy" tone, I think only a Poll will get to the bottom of this.
