Cams take away from the purity of the adventure, but then it will never be the way it was when hammering pitons into chalky rock for questionable saftey (which is then unable to be retrieved and is used as questionable pro by generations of later climbs). When you are 32m up on sketchy wires and find an ok opening, but are sweating and too desperate to try to set a piece (and the crak is not flaring or glassy or going to suck you $120 camalot in) then it is damn nice to be able to pull a piece that can be set by a retarded monkey on speed (which is much the feeling you have at 32m with sketchy thin pro).

So though they are not the safest, best, most versitle piece on your rack you will be damn glad that the p***k at Paddies ripped you off for your Camalot, as it is the easiest piece of pro you will ever set (don't get complacent about this fact, they can pop like buttered corn).
