ive always found that when it is cold i am either too hot when active if warmly dressed or too cold when still. The logic that i eventually decided to apply to this problem after trying various clothing options and discovering i hate having hot legs is that you can't satify both so i either hop in a sleeping bag as soon as i stop moving or just resign myself to sleeping cold. WARM PANTS ARE EVIL! I also discovered when young and silly that if you are appropriately drunk a simple woolen or fleece blanket ideally but even a plastic table cloth wrapped tightly enough around ones head and torso can provide a reasonable nights sleep even in a victorian frost. My advice is think like a penguin and embrace cold legs, they are a long way from any vital organs.
