For the original poster - I've been using a WE 100L Alpine Expedition pack for about 8 years now. Aside from an attack by a Native Marsupial Rodent (ie. a rat going for food) and a United Airlines baggage handler, it has survived well. They're not made in Perth anymore though, all made offshore in Vietnam, which may explain why some of the stitching on the velcro has come unstuck. But generally speaking, aside from the colour fading (prolly cos of UV exposure) it has held up well, with no structural damage, and I've given it quite a beating over the years.
