What do you look for in a backpack? |

I would also recommend a day-and-a-half pack (40-50L) rather than anything bigger.
Many of the packs in this size range are alpine climbing or X country skiing packs, which are designed to be narrow so as not to restrict arm movement. That often means a battle getting your stuff in and out so maybe look for something a little shorter and broader.
If you are trudging in to a multi-pitch climb you can be lugging a bit of weight so it's worth getting something with a decent harness.
There was a good WE pack around 45L that had a pretty good harness. Buggered if I can remember the name of it. |
