Have a look at Andy Kirkpatricks site: http://www.psychovertical.com/?whichlockingkarabiner Personally, I carry a DMM Boa (belaying and raps with an ATC guide), 2 BD Quicksilver screwgates (light weight multi-use) and a Petzl OK Oval (hauling, using the ATC guide in autoblock mode, added friction when belaying). I have always gone for screwgates over auto locking types. They are easier to operate with fat gloves on, and have never given me trouble when frozen up.
