i am wondering about peoples experiences of lead falls where the first piece of gear did not stop them for whatever reason. i have probably had approx 20-30 lead falls across a wide range of gear (i rarely sport climb) and have not yet had a problem, is this the norm or have i been lucky, can i afford to run it out above that one bomber piece (ledges not withstanding) or is that playing russian roullette. The survey options may not neatly fit your experience, just tick whatever is best or note a qualifier or something.
So in your lead climbing experience regarding the first piece of protection you meet on your way rapidly down ..........
(sorry speaking of general stupidity this obviously does not fit into trip reports but i don't know how to fix it)
