"I don't mean to thread highjack at all, but I have noticed that Mammut ropes are getting ridiculously expensive - I went in to MDs last week and they have fancy-pants singles for up to $500. Holy crap batman!!"

I'd like to know what rope you saw that was $500? the most expensive Mammut rope at the mo' is $439 (8.9mm 60m single).

on the whole mammut ropes are all cheaper than what they were 2 years ago. the 10.5mm 50m flash is now $279 as opposed to being somewhere around $300 a couple of years back.

Mods: this isn't an ad for mds this is responding to a genuine query about Mammut ropes and dispelling peoples misconceptions.

if you can get a Mammut rope for $149 - do it! I've never heard of the Eiger though...
