The best canyoning ropes I've used were the 10mm cousins polypro. bright, floats, doesn't absort water and weight, and get more useful the older they are (ie the shorter they get!) brilliant. 9mm's can be deadly. Sure you can always rig an extra biner for extra friction or something similar, but who can do that when you're unhooking in a plunge pool? They're just too fast.
