I still think you should look at a Tre. (search for Tre Climbing belay on google and it should show up)
Its supposed to be 'soft-locking', so it doesn't have the problem of higher forces on the gear. It can be used for belaying seconds in auto lock mode (good for multi-pitch - and also good when you need to create a quick z-pulley). It works with double ropes (good for multi-pitch). You can rap on double ropes with it (good for multi-pitch). You don't take it off the biner when you undo it so there's less chance of dropping it (good for multi-pitch).

Anyway - For multi-pitch I tend to use a tube-style device and if I need extra friction for skinny ropes I just put 2 locking biners in - seems to work fine. And I have a gi-gi plate for belaying seconds.
