Good foam is expensive. I made my own about 7 years ago. 2cm closed cell foam and 7cm of High/Medium density foam (both with anti mildew treatments) and it cost me $250 just for the foam. I then bought upholstery canvas (crapola as it turned out) and sewed that sucker up good style. It is the best pad I have ever fallen on. Unfortunately I know squat about sewing mat covers and the cover was falling apart within 12 months. It is now held together by duct tape.
Oh yeah, it took me all day to sew it up on mum's sewing machine.
A good excercise, but my time could have been better spent learning proper training techniques.
