Hey all, I went to Bogong yesterday to get my length of dynamic rope and got a severe verbal shelacking from the attendant (in the nicest and most informative way of course) for my notion of using dynamic as a cow's tail. Basically he said that if the cow's tail gets weighted while I'm belaying from up top, the stretch in the rope makes my belaying dangerous for the second e.g. could end up being pulled off the ledge and stuck. And the only dynamic thing for recreational climbing should be the climbing rope. Everything else should be static.

I dunno - it's all very confusing, but after reassurance about the strength of a sling (and absolute terror at hanging of a cliff with a second hanging off me!) I walked out of the shop with a sling instead!
