As the others have said, it all depends.
Where, why, and what temperature.
Synth needs less attention, and is better when you're active.
Patagonia, Integral Designs, and Wild Things all make great synth jackets and pants for the snowy cold. Don't bother taking off layers, putting on layers, taking off layers. Just put it on over the top of everything. If it's cold and snowing, it's fine, if it's warm and raining, do you really want to be out in the mountains?
Macpac make a great synth jacket that I've found good for 4 season bushwalking temperatures in australia.
Down. Well tony, if you're never going to leave the glen or blackheath carpark, this might be the way for you to go :-) Mont make great down gear, and have an annual sale down near canberra - well worth the trip, cos then you get to go climb at booroomba, such an under-rated place!
As for washing, I'm sure you'll have a shower one of these days... Did you end up going to the yodellers last weekend? |
