Indeed. They use the same sensors though, so (to the nearest 5m) they have the same accuracy. It's nice to know your altitude to the meter, but weather changes make this impossible anyway.

Shmalec notes this. That's why switching between the alti and barometer is a good idea (eg, polar or expensive Suunto). A pain in the butt though.
eg. Sitting at a belay/bivvy - baro is running. Any change is definitely due to weather. When climbing (or even trekking) - altimeter is on. Changes in altitude will have a more profound effect than weather differences. With ALL models you have to reference and reset your altitude frequently. Maybe the GPS models alleviate this (with GPS altitude - not sure if they're accurate enough??)
