You'll find that with the X series Suunto watches that the altimeter and barometer will be more accurate than on the Vector. The vector works in 5m increments and the barometer also in 5mbar increments. Ther X series watches use 1m and 1mbar increments and are accurate to +/-1(m or mbar). On the X series you can lock out the barometer on an x series to increase accuracy and vice versa .
Having said that, I find Vectors very easy and accurate enough for anything I do.
The GPS models from Suunto will pick up a maximum of 6 satellites (I picked up 3 satellites indoors at a shop). However your battery will last about 45mins if you have the GPS function operating full-time. You can recharge the watch with a 9volt battery inserted into the supplied cradle, but can't tell you how much watch life this will give you. Essentially the gps is great just to check your position occassionally in emergencies in an adventure situation.
