The eddy has a self locking type mechanism for lowering off ie; you cant 'open the handle' and drop them, like you therotically can with a gri gri Eddy is also a hell of a lot heavier than a gri gri - ok for single pitch sport sure, but could get quite heavy over 6-8 pitches.
