There's a possibility of getting some ice screws brought back by a mate from Canada very soon. I'm just wondering what sizes are the best to start out with?

I'm planning on heading to NZ this February. Only easy routes, so I'm not sure I'd even use a single one, but I imagine they're something you take with regardless right? Regardless of what I use this summer though, they're an investment that I'll continue to use.

So do people think 3 is a good number to start with? Or only 2? Is 22cm a waste of time? I know how solid screws can be in decent ice, eg 16s would be fine, but do long ones come in handy when it's poor quality ice? At the moment I'm thinking maybe 2 16s and a 19. Not sure - would be interested to hear peoples opinions.
