a front bail crampon is a wire that snugs down into the front toe welt when levered in by the heel snap lever. BD sabretooth crampons now come in a Pro and Clip version. The Pro is a wire bail whereas the Clip is the strap system that you refer to. Your Manta boots are reasonably flexible and more prone to having crampons pop out of front wire bails, so if you go for this option make sure it is correctly adjusted for your boot's length, and go for something like the Pro that connects the front bail to the rear boot attachment. In other front bail models without this attachment, when your toe pops, the front of your boot can completely lift out of the crampon - very disconcerting!
