I wanted the broadest range of answers but perhaps I should focus the question on my specific
problems. Here they are:

-I have belayed with a reverso and find it very convenient in the auto-locking mode but have yet to work
out a safe and simple way to release its hold on the rope to lower the second.

-The munter hitch seems to me a smart alternative and I have been using it lately. I am troubled, though,
that this system may not be safe if both ropes run on one HMS through the same hitch. The variances in
rope run between the two ropes over the course of a meandering pitch may be a problem.

-the slingshot belay allows for a more straightforward approach but doubles the load on the anchors.

I should add that I am partial to belaying off of the anchor and am really looking for an ideal way to do this
with double ropes. Thanks for your reply, and I hope I have clarified my question.
