I've always only used double fishermans, on hexes etc. Lack of data was irritating me, so I found some: http://caves.org/section/vertical/nh/49/cthsc/cthsc.html Triple fisherman's do gain some strength on Blue Water Spectra (for example); but it adds only about an extra 3kn, vs around 15kn for a Double Fishermans.... I really can't see a problem with that, esp for hexes and big bros! Maybe if you are tying an anchor cord, or sling. BTW: I found something else that was a concern... that my hexes, which I love! and are slung with Kevlar, which I assumed was bombproof... has a problem with internal abrasion inside the sheath, and can fail without warning. Great!
