I was in the Grampians. My friend was avoiding the walkout(via helicopter). The chopper dude asked if we had set off an EPIRB, we hadn't. They had no idea who had or where it was. Turns out there was a crashed plane 100km away. Moral to the story: If you'd like to slowly die take a EPIRB. If you'd like to live, arrange your rescue any other way.
