I've managed to resling mine using short spectra slings - a doubled piece will go through a small eye, or I either double it over or larksfoot the cable on that style. Given the original pieces had a single piece of nylon in the same place, I'm happy to use them. I've found material in the past which indicated it should be stronger than the cable, but can't find it now. That said, I've never actually tested them to failure, so it may not be entirely suitable. Note that spectra has much lower elasticity than nylon, which can lead to bigger impacts. However, I'm not falling directly on to that sling, but rather a nylon rope running through the piece.
