But seriously, it hasn't damaged my cams at all - I have some extremely well used 20 year old camalots still going strong. And there's a simple matter of physics. Try bashing a nail in with your palm (you can cover it with a chunk of wood to save impaling yourself). Then compare that to a hammer. Or my improvised hammer substitutes. You just get a lot more force.
