I used to use bike brake cables and made my own swages out of copper car brake line, which worked okay, but thinner, more flexible cables would have been better. These days, however, all the cool kids are using thin cord to replace the whole lot. You just need to drill out the holes in the cam lobes that the wires go through, and maybe the holes in the triggers. It works great.
