I've made one and am making one now. I tied an 8 in the middle of an old rope and started from there. I made maybe the first 10 rungs narrower, only about two hands wide. The rest was about a hand wider. I used 1 1/8" 6060T6 portaledge aluminium and wrapped it in tape. Make sure your knots are really set in position; I used simple overhands. The use of climbing rope is appropriate because you're going to be winching it tight at the angle you want. Need to track down some appropriate rungs, doubt big B's will have it... |
