Try the Patagonia store in Melbourne (southyarra[at]patagonia.com.au) - they've got a Patagonia 'Common Threads' recycling bin, where you can recycle used Patagonia gear. Given the brand of your harnesses, it would be reasonable that they still have a "responsibility" under their own policy. That said, it might be clothing only. But hey, they might be interested in them for historical purposes. The staff there are pretty friendly and helpful, so it's worth an email.
