thanks all for the info.

I'd read Wendy's helpful how-to and I'll keep it in mind.

I'm ideally looking for something <$300.
The GoPro Hero2 looks like a great option, I hadn't considered a helmut mounted camera but the advantages are obvious for climbing, particularly as a lot of it will be multi-pitch so difficult to set up a shot properly. Battery life is a bit of a worry though.

which is really cheap but all the reviews say it performs really well (for the price). Maybe I can gaffa tape it to my helmet!

Any tips for shooting climbing video? For single pitch I was thinking of rapping in beside the climber, but it might be hard to keep the camera still.
For multi-pitch with just a climbing partner it will be hard to get anything other than bum or head shots I guess.
