A friend has a helmet-mountable camera that he uses for skiing, cool. Things move fast and you get see the angles he's descending.
I would be more interested in the second part of your last line. "How appropriate for climbing would one be?". What do you intend using it for? Seeing the rock from a climbers view? Giving out beta? Given the limited view that the viewer would get (basically only the rock features as you're moving past and/or reaching for) I don't really know why you'd want to wear one as a climber. Personally I don't think I, as a viewer, would be interested in watching that, but clearly, that's just me :-)
(if you're going to claim that you get to see the views from the climb etc, well, you can just take a handheld one and do a proper job when you're at a belay or something)
