If its not very old, it might be worth trying to claim it as a warranty job. Don't listen to the staff in the shop who will have some excuse as to why you are unlikely to be successful, (as the jacket is no use to you ...) and get them to send it to the warranty peps. Goretex has a life time 'warranty' or some such ...
