The fact that Ratman had to do some home repairs on the drill when he hasnt actually used it for real rock would suggest it is probably not the bargin that it presents itself as.

Ratman - Glue in anchors use a 12mm hole so a 1/2" chuck will hold a bit big enough.

There is no way this drill would be capable of drilling a hole into a piece of rock that was strong enough to use an expansion bolt in. Expansion bolts are only suitable for volcanic and metamorphosed rocks. This drill might get a few holes in Blueys sandstone if you were lucky but even then it would have to be a 12mm hole for a glue-in.

Even with a super dooper external battery the drill will still suck because it isnt a rotary hammer drill. It is an impact drill, it uses a pretty pissy spring to deliver a blow the the drill bit as it spins. A rotary hammer drill (Panasonic, Ramset, Bosch, Hilti etc) use a electro pneumatic pump or a very big spring to deliver the blow. Look up the impact force in the specs of a Ramset DD524 and compare it to a Millers Falls Impact drill and there will be a vast difference.

Dont waste your money. You will end up with a worthless drill or run out of power after you first bolt hole and end up putting in sub-standard bolts.
