I couldn't justify buying a super exxy soft shell (I already have heaps of good G-tex stuff for when it gets gnarly) so bought one of these (click on link below) from Snowgum a few years ago and it's absolutely brilliant, been used for everything from sea kayaking, MTB and bush walking to climbing and bouldering, running around in the cold and rain in the Scottish highlands to hanging out at coffee shops in Melbs. Super breathable, as water resistant as any other softshell I've used and 1/2 the price of similar stuff from OR, Macpac, Mont, Rab etc etc..well worth a look. http://www.snowgum.com.au/shop/product/36/2/rymill-hooded-windtec-soft-shell-jacket
