I've got a Berghaus one, and it has held up well to over 5 years of abuse. I like the fact it has a a second cuff/wind shield type thing around the wrists instead of the velcro wrist straps you get on some of the jackets. The neck on my jacket fits nice and snug, so I don't really have a problem with water seeping down my neck. It is also a heavier type of soft-shell material, making it more abrasion resistant than other jackets such as the macpac type ones. Soft-shells are excellent jackets for 90% of the weather conditions that you get around sydney. That being said, in heavy rain they are only water resistant, and do not replace a hard shell jacket. For that reason, I don't really care that it doesn't have a hood.
