So I've come to Canada from Australia and didn't bring my rope (too bulky). So i need a new rope/s.
I want to climb all over Canada and the States (Squamish, the Bugaboos, Indian creek, Smith rock). With these places in mind i've thought about getting a thing single(9.2-4mm) and then getting a thing half rope(8mm) to go with it for routes in the Bugs and Rockies. However I might be falling on some routes want to start pushing it by the end of the season and onsight a 5.12.
Alternatively i could just get a fat 10mm and 2 half ropes, logical but more bulk and money.
What are thoughts, experiences and advice?
Thanks
Nathan
Ps. Cruse, Egosan and Matt I'll get in touch with you soon

Dude, I'm over in Canada (Canmore) doing exactly that right now.
I'm planning to get down to the Creek in a couple of weeks, and Yosem a month after that. Aiming to get back to Canada for the Bugaboos June/July.
Let me know if you're keen to try and catch up.
I did the same as you, I took my rack, but left my ropes back in Oz. So far, I've purchased one awesome rope from MEC Calgary, and if I need to diversify, I can buy more as needed.
I bought an Edelrid Falcon 9.4mm, 70m, dry treated, bi weave for $250CAD. As all rounders go, thats about the sweet spot as far as I'm concerned.
