Thinking out load here: If you wanted to stop twisting on single legged bolts ie. P's then longtitudinal groovves would be a solution. I wonder though, if you had just the usual notching but all the way around, you would end up with a keyed locked in siuation. It wouldn't matter if the eye of the P spun as it would never come out of the hole. This would allow the P spin when the load was high enough thus allowing it to rotate to where the greatest force is rather than having side loads put on it. Not sure it this is warranted but may be something to test.
