"Chossy" IMO is a term used to define the amount of vegetation growing on the rock which is an indicator of different climatic conditions (S facing, shaded etc) rather than poor rock. I would use the word "loose" to describe some of the more weathered / poorer rock type at Pilot (e.g the Eastern Crags).
After placing bolts by hand drill both on the Buffalo plateau and at Mt Pilot I can say (tho' I'm no geologist) that the rock at the western end of Mt Pilot's Bakery Wall is equally as dense (is that the right terminology?) if not denser than the rock at Buffalo. |
